My name is Alexa Wootten, and I am a senior journalism major at the University of Maryland. I am interested in pursuing a career in Sports Broadcast Media.
Growing up in a world of sports, I knew I always wanted to work in the industry, and by combining my love of writing and connecting with others through stories, I found a dream career.
I am in my final year of college and through my coursework, I have worked for Capital News Service, a news service directly reported for by students, interned with DC 7 News through a supervised internship, and studied abroad in Africa covering the NBA's efforts to grow basketball on the continent. As well, I co-directed and edited a documentary on the NBA Academy Africa in Saly, Senegal.
I have worked for numerous on-campus organizations, such as BIG+ Student U, Terrapin Sports Central, WMUC Sports, and The Diamondback.
I have also gained experience through internships with NBC Sports, The McDonald's All American Games & Golin, YahooSports!. 3Step Sports, and Thunder Mountain Media.
I am a hardworking individual who has a passion for covering sports and the people within it.
